The design is for a luxury double-storey villa and a separate ground-floor guesthouse in the area of Perlia, in Poros Island, Saronic Islands.
The basic idea of the design is to create a gentle intervention, an architectural ensemble fully harmonized with the surrounding natural environment. The plot is a rare 3153 square meter land, upslope of the port of the island, amid a forest zone, and offering amazing unobstructed sea and mountain views. Its special shape in the form of a Z, inspired the idea of distinct architectural volumes acting like a single whole through a “walk in nature”: the main element of the composition, i.e. the main residence, is connected with the guesthouse by a path of stairs and ramps, built with local, natural materials. Through this route, the visitor follows the natural land morphology, all the while crossing outdoor living spaces, passing by the forest and overlooking the traditional settlement of Poros. An angled element (low wall / road retaining wall) will be placed along this private path to separate the public from the private side of the property, intended each to serve different functions.
A shadowed parking space is set to be placed at the property’s entrance, at the back of the guesthouse, while an access road runs through the plot and leads to the southwest side of the main residence, where is its entrance.
The design offers all the indoor and outdoor living spaces on the ground floor of the main residence, the kitchen, living and dining room, WC, storage room and the staircase to the first floor. On the upper floor are placed the master bedroom with bathroom, a second bedroom with bathroom and outdoor accessible areas. The small guesthouse consists of an open space -a living room, a bedroom and a WC.
